My Photography Journey
All about Laura Pittman . . .
Originally a California girl, I met and married Ray right out of university, where I studied Biology. I love animals, the ocean, travel and adventure. I love photography, especially if there's a person in the photo. (My favourite is underwater portraits!).
Ray and I moved to Fiji in 2001 and have worked in a variety of community development programs here. We founded and co-direct Island Encounters Fiji (A Christian non-profit, aimed at community development, children's ministry and student programs). The non-profit runs a 14-acre farm. Our family lives down a bumpy dirt road on a 17-acre farm (Haven), where we've recently built our home. Our girls (all born in Fiji) home-school, which keeps me busy! One has graduated, two more to go.
We have three dogs and three cats (I love the dogs the most, but my daughter Elani loves the cats).
I've run Island Encounters Photography since 2012, focusing mostly on destination wedding photography, resort photography, and underwater photography here in Fiji. This side business has opened doors for me I never dreamed of. Photography has been one of the biggest blessings of my life.
My "covid pivot" has been to add photography education to my business, so that I can bless more people with the gift of photography. I hope to see you inside of the course!
